Mamiya to transfer camera business
Monday, April 24, 2006 | by Eamon Hickey

Over the weekend initial sketchy reports have hardened into confirmed news that Mamiya O/P Co. Ltd. (Mamiya Japan) will be transferring its Optical Equipment Division, which makes Mamiya cameras and lenses, to a new company, Cosmo Digital Imaging Company, Ltd.

This new company to which Mamiya's camera business will be transferred was formed by Cosmos Scientific Systems, Inc., a Japanese information technology company.

A PDF format press release issued today by the MAC Group, the U.S. distributor of Mamiya products, has brief details in English.

On Friday, Imaging Resource published a report based on a Japanese-language press release from the Mamiya O/P web site that has more details.
