As Photokina nears, both Pentax and Konica Minolta have announced entry-level digital SLR cameras in the past two days.
The Pentax, called the *ist DS, is a 6.1-megapixel model that weighs only 18 ounces. A Pentax press release says that it will ship in November 2004. Digital Photography Review has a preview with pictures, and the site reports a projected body-only price of US$700 in the U.S and 700 GBP in the U.K.
The Konica Minolta, called the Maxxum 7D in the Americas and the Dynax 7D in the rest of the world, is also a 6.1-megapixel model. It will feature Konica Minolta's anti-shake system, which moves the image sensor to counteract image blurriness caused by camera motion. No pricing or availability information has been released for this camera.
