Canon USA has begun to ship to dealers the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1A, says Chuck Westfall, Director of Technical Marketing at Canon USA.
The device, which provides both wired Ethernet and wireless 802.11b/g wireless transmission capabilities to the EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds Mark II and EOS 20D, was first announced at Photokina in the fall of 2004.
The WFT-E1A (sold as the WFT-E1 in most regions of the world outside North America) is bundled with a configuration utility for Windows and Mac designed to ease the setup of the device for wireless communication and FTP transmission.
Update: An earlier revision of this article referred to the File Transmission Utility (FTU) software being bundled with the WFT-E1A. New information from Chuck Westfall indicates that isn't the case, and that only the configuration utility will be included.
