HP debuts two new pro inkjet printers
Thursday, February 24, 2005 | by Eamon Hickey

Hewlett-Packard has announced two new inkjet printers, the HP Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer and the HP Designjet 90 wide-format printer.

The Photosmart 8750 is a 9-color, 13 x 19-inch model. Its Vivera inkset includes two shades of grey, in addition to black, which should make for more neutral black-and-white prints, according to HP. The inkset also produces enhanced blues for skies and landscapes, and print longevity is claimed to be upwards of 100 years. The 8750 is slated to become available in April 2005 for an estimated street price of US$499 in the U.S.

The Designjet 90 is a 6-color, 2400dpi wide-format model that can accept sheet paper in sizes up to 18 x 24 inches or 18-inch wide roll-fed media. HP claims the DesignJet 90 is up to twice as fast as comparably priced printers. This printer is scheduled to become available in early summer 2005 in North America. It will sell for an estimated street price of US$995 in the U.S.
