Globe and Mail: Altering reality
Sunday, March 28, 2004 | by Mike Sturk

In the foreground of a Reuters photo of the bombed wreckage of a Madrid communter train lies a bloodied body part: a severed limb.

The severed limb received varying amounts of digital alteration by a number of newspapers, reports columnist Jack Kapica of the Globe and Mail. Versions of the altered photo appear on The Guardian website (free registration required to access).
