While we've not yet received official word from Apple regarding a precise ship date for Aperture 1.0, activity on the web site of at least one major retailer suggests that the software may begin shipping on November 30, 2005.
We've been hunting for clues of Aperture's release date on various online retailers, including amazon.com, every few days. Some time over the weekend, Aperture's availability status on that site changed from "This item has not yet been released" to "This item will be released on November 30, 2005." In addition, a post earlier today in the Rob Galbraith DPI forums, by wedding shooter Robert Mehr, quotes an email from amazon.com that appears to confirm the November 30th ship date:
"Although we do have your copy of "Apple Aperture Post Production Tool for Photographers (Mac DVD)" on hand, we are not able to ship it to you until its official release date, November 30, 2005."
And, the estimated ship date at the online U.S. Apple Store has also recently been moved up, to "1 week." Earlier Apple Store delivery estimates put the software as coming available in December. So, for those hankering to get the first release of Apple's new pro photo workflow application installed, the wait may not be much longer.
Update, November 26: On the front page of the online Apple Stores for the U.S. and Canada, the Aperture link in the Apple Software section has changed to include a "Now Shipping" logo, though the Aperture product page still indicates a shipping estimate of "1 week."
Apple has also posted a utility that can check whether your Mac is capable of running Aperture, while Peachpit Press is readying for release on November 29, 2005 an Apple Pro Training Series book called Getting Started with Aperture.
